 What type of sterilization techniques does your office practice?
Our office follows all American Dental Association infection control guidelines and those of OSHA. We use as many disposable plastic and paper items as possible. All of our dental instruments and handpieces are heat sterilized, using extremely high temperatures and pressure. This assures us and our patients that all bacteria and viruses will be effectively killed.

I'm a very anxious patient, what can your office do to help relax me?
We offer nitrous oxide (sweet air) which can help relieve your anxiety. Nitrous oxide is a blend of 2 gases and is a safe and effective way to obtain treatment. This gas has a calming, relaxing effect on the patient. You remain fully awake and alert and are able to drive home after the procedure. We also offer televisions in our treatment rooms where you can watch cable television during your treatment or watch a music video using wireless headphones. You can also bring your own movie DVD's or music DVD's to watch during your treatment.

How often should my child or myself see the dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommend a dental check-up and cleaning at least twice a year for most children and adults. However some children and adults require more frequent visits due to increased risk of tooth decay or because of poor oral hygiene or because they are at an increased risk of gingivitis or periodontal disease. Approximately 50% of our practice comes 2 times per year and the other 50% gets a cleaning 3 or 4 times per year. We will determine the correct regimen for you.
What does it mean when my gums bleed when I brush my teeth?
This is a sign of gingivitis, which is inflammation of your gums or of periodontal disease, which is inflammation of the gums and of the bone that holds our teeth in place. Left untreated, this will ultimately lead to tooth loss. For gingivitis, a one visit cleaning, followed by regularly scheduled cleanings may be enough to bring your mouth back to health. For periodontal disease, several consecutive deeper cleanings may be necessary.
Is the office available for emergency care after regular office hours?
Yes. One of the doctors is available 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Simply call our office telephone number and you will be instructed on how to reach the doctor on his beeper.

Does your office do cosmetic dentistry?
Yes. All types of cosmetic dentistry are offered. We do tooth bonding, laminates, crowns, implants and several types of tooth whitening.
What kinds of teeth whitening do you offer?
We offer 2 types of teeth bleaching. Since 1990 we have been providing flexible trays to place in your mouth with a bleaching gel. This is used during the day for 1/2 hour 2 times per day for 2-3 weeks; or you can sleep with it for 2-3 weeks. We also provide a newer technique called Brite Smile. This allows us to bleach your teeth in our office. It generally requires 2 to 2 1/2 hours of your time. The advantage of Brite Smile is that all of the bleaching occurs in the office and is less time consuming for you.
Do you offer "white" fillings?
Yes. Most of the fillings that we provide are metal free and are all white.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are hypoallergenic titanium metal posts that are placed in your mouth to replace either a single tooth or several teeth. It can even be used to replace all of your teeth. This is a wonderful, conservative treatment alternative and can be especially attractive for a patient who does not want to wear a full denture. The doctors are proficient in all implant types and have placed many successful implant restorations since 1987.

Are there any specialists at your office?
Yes. We have a board qualified endodontist (root canal specialist) in our practice.
What should I do if my child's permanent tooth is knocked out?
Locate the tooth and rinse it gently in cool water. Do not scrub or rub the tooth in any way. If the root is intact, place the tooth in the socket that it came from and hold it there with a clean gauze or a washcloth. If you are unable to place the tooth in the socket, place the tooth in a clean container with milk; if milk is not available use water. Call us immediately. Ideally we want to place the tooth back in position in your child's mouth in an hour or less. The faster you act, the better the chances of saving the tooth.
What should I do if my child's baby tooth is knocked out?
Call us as soon as possible. Baby teeth are not placed back into the socket like permanent teeth are. We want to check your child to make sure that there are no tooth fragments remaining in the socket and that all other structures are normal.
